By Air
Phuket International Airport (HKT) is Thailand’s second most-frequented airport and offers an extensive network of connections from domestic and international locations. Many international carriers fly direct from Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Hong Kong, Sydney, Munich and Moscow and offer connecting service to numerous cities such as London, Beijing, New York, Frankfurt, Dubai and Mumbai. Meanwhile, seasonal charter services provide direct flights from other European, Asian and Australian destinations. A direct flight from Bangkok takes just over one hour, whereas Singapore is less than two hours away. Domestic carrier Bangkok Airways also flies direct from Phuket to Samui and other tropical and cultural destinations around Thailand and Southeast Asia. While most visitors to Thailand receive a 30-day tourist visa on arrival at Phuket International Airport, be sure to check the visa requirements for Thailand for your country of residence and make any necessary arrangements before arrival.
Overland
Travelling by bus, car or train is an ideal means to experience the Thai countryside…granted that you have ample time! Buses from Bangkok take about 14 hours, with options ranging from coaches, minibuses and VIP buses, decked out with reclining chairs, subtitled Thai movies and air conditioning. Another creative way to travel is by train, which is relatively comfortable and safe, albeit more time-consuming. The route from Singapore to Phuket follows a historic route. The journey takes approximately a day and a half, with flexible stops in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. From the train route, it is easy to link to a ferry which will whisk you to Phuket and Anantara Resort in no time.
Boat and Ferry
With the sound of the waves and taste of salt in the air, travelling over water to Phuket can be quite an adventure! There are many speedboat and ferry companies that run regular service from Krabi, via the tropical island gems of Phi Phi Island or Railey Beach, famed for its diving, rock climbing and limestone formations. While overland is the quickest route to Phuket, arriving by Phang Nga Bay offers an adventurous prologue to Phuket.
